    Lan does not work after overclocking the cpu

    hi guys just wanted to ask if this is a regular problem that can been solved as stated in the title i OC'd my cpu running at 4.9ghz @ 1.5v. Well it worked but I had to notice that my lan(network controller) didnt work after my changes so I played around used the profiles set in bios gamer profile high / low voltage and the same problem. After reseting my bios I didnt have any problems what so ever so I can safely presume that the oc'ing had something to do with it.

    my speccs are as following:

    cpu 3930k now at stock speed
    gpu 690 GTX
    mobo asus rampage extreme iv
    ram corsair rampage 1666mhz
    ssd kingston hyper x 256gb

    yeah thats it ..... should I try loweing the voltage or updating my bios havent done that well since I bought my board april 2012 ^^^

    LAN functionality can go out the window if your system is not stable that is correct. What I would suggest is manually overclocking via the bios, and not use any of the presets. Start with small increments. And keep it simple. So set your system to 4.4GHz in the bios run some stability test, or play your favourite game for an hour. Of course check to see if your LAN works. If yes to all three questions, go up one additional multi. Repeat until your LAN stops working.

    For a normal 24/7 overclock 4.4 - 4.6 is perfect.

    I lost my LAN, the ability to set SLI, etc pretty much anything connected to the PCI bus when while OC'd I dropped Vtt too low. I can offer no comfort. The only way I could get the computer fully functional was a complete reinstall.

    thanks for the fast replies guys appreciate it. May I just ask this small question as stated Vizman, I do clock manually or atleast that was the idea ^^. The 4.9 where achived through trial and error although the profile could have done that ... anyhow ...

    How high would you state, that the Vtt should be @ 4.4- 4.6Ghz , as I think that that was the main issue the first time i clocked...

    Lowest / Highest value as I am still quite new to the whole OC'ing buisness but learning fast.

    Kepp VCCSA and VTT same or similar and keep them within 0.3v of Vcore and within 0.6v of VDIMM

    just as an example...if you need 1.4v for 4.6 make sure VTT and VCCSA are 1.1

    Intel spec for VCCSA is 0.6 to 1.2v with 1.4 max
    Intel spec for VTT is 1.005 to 1.095 1.4 max
    These are stock values....but it gives you a good idea...

    I have run Vtt of 1.25 on one particularly irritating system for about 6 months now with no ill effects. But would suggest you keep it below that as optimal.

    With my OC, Vtt when set on auto will settle at 1.26v. 1.15v is where all hell broke loose. I should have known better than to just change it, but had read where a number of folk were successful at that level...me not so much. I'll see blue screens when I get below 1.9v, so have it and Vccsa both set at 1.2.

    Could be that 64GB of RAM and 2x GTX690 just place too many demand on the Uncore and Memory controller for me to run below 1.2v.
